From 1 to 5 September 2021, the Batavia Haven marina in Lelystad will once again be the setting for Europe’s largest in-water boat show. There will be plenty to see and do on the jetties, on the water and in the ‘Theater aan het Water’. After the water sports exhibition was cancelled last year due to the Covid pandemic, the organization and exhibitors have pulled out all the stops to make this year’s edition an extra special experience.
Batavia Haven in Lelystad will once again be the home port for Hiswa te Water. The location is ideally suited for this water sports exhibition, as the two previous editions have shown. The harbour is within walking distance of the Batavia outlet car park, but if you prefer to cycle, you can use the VanMoof electric bicycle shuttle service to get to the show’s entrance.
Safe
Of course, given the current situation surrounding the Covid pandemic, the most frequently asked question is, will Hiswa te Water go ahead? Director of the water sports show Arjen Rahusen and his team currently have no reason to doubt this. And fortunately our exhibitors don’t either. Everyone is really looking forward to Hiswa te Water, where we will of course take all the necessary precautions to ensure that everyone can wander over the pontoons safely and responsibly.
Toys & Tenders
Upon entering, visitors are immediately immersed in the Toys & Tenders theme. ”We have enlarged the reception area considerably,” explains Arjen Rahusen. ”You can see the Toys & Tenders theme in all kinds of spectacular new products that have recently come onto the market.”
For example, in the entrance hall you can admire the Gibbs Quadski, the Gocycle, various fliteboards, the Ibbuble underwater drone and the Manta 5, which allows you to cycle over the water as if you are flying.
Several boats can be admired in the entrance marquee, including the Zuidwestersloep, a hydrogen-powered launch. During the boat show, a model of the new vessel of the Vaarwens foundation – a charitable organization that organizes days out on the water for terminally ill patients – will be 3D printed in the entrance area. Bids can be made for the model during a special auction and the proceeds will of course go to Vaarwens. The original vessel used by the Vaarwens Foundation will be moored in the harbour and can be visited. Also, former Olympian Pieter-Jan Postma will be present to talk about the DutchSail project.
Electric boating
When you leave the entrance area full of innovations, you come to the quays and jetties, offering a beautiful view over the harbour. Directly below the quay you will find the ‘Boot aan stroom’ pavilion, where you can learn all there is to know about electric boating. Several suppliers of electrically powered boats will be represented here and you can view the boats and possibly go out for a trial run. To give motor boaters and sailors sound and independent advice, there will be special information booths staffed by the editors of the Motorboot and Zeilen magazines. They will be on hand to answer all your questions.
Made in Holland
The main objective of the show is orientation and inspiration. There will be over 300 boats in the harbour: from dinghies to super yachts. At almost 30 metres in length, the Princess Y85 is the largest yacht. She will be moored at the VIP Boulevard. Dutch Craftsmanship is the common thread here. ”Dutch yacht building is something we can be proud of. Hence it will have a prominent place at Hiswa te Water,” said Arjen Rahusen. Contest Yachts was initially going to bring the 55CS, but will now be presenting the 59CS, knicknamed the ‘Bentley boat’.
A prominent place has also been reserved for the offering of houseoats. Not surprising, because ‘living on the water’, recreationally or permanently, has become hugely popular. Various builders, but also marinas with mooring facilities, will be on hand to show what the possibilities are for buying or renting.
For everyone
In the outboard segment, the major brands, including Honda, will again be present in Lelystad. At the Mercury stand you will be able to view the latest Bernico, with twin 600 HP engines on its transom.
Dockmate will demonstrate how you can use a remote control to moor your boat without any problems. Duurzame Sloepen, a recent start-up based in Woudsend, will demonstrate a new trend: 3D-building. For sailing enthusiasts there will be various day sailors, but also yachts that will take you around the world. Launches and tenders in all shapes and sizes will of course also be on show.
Young visitors can have a go at sailing or stand-up-paddling, courtesy of the Pean sailing school and Optimist on Tour programme.
The ‘Theater aan het Water’ will present a varied daily programme, including the Sailing Together Quiz, live-music, workshops, presentations by the Vaarwens Foundation, recordings of the Sailing Pleasure Podcast and the announcement of the winners of various elections, including the Boat of the Year and the Public’s Favorite.
There will be daily reports of the most important news through various social media channels. Renowned boat expert Epco Ongering will be showing firsts, talking to exhibitors and visitors and can be found on the jetties and quays on all exhibition days.
The 37th ‘Hiswa te Water’ will cast off on September 1. Those planning to visit the water sports exhibition are advised to refer to the website for the latest status. Because of Covid, access is only possible with a coronavirus QR code. Click here for more information.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
